Quickturn Extends `QuickStart' Program to Provide Upgrade Path for Emulation Customers

SAN JOSE, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 6, 2001--Quickturn, a Cadence (NYSE:CDN) company, today announced it is extending its QuickStart program to customers using emulation systems manufactured by other providers, by offering a direct upgrade path to Quickturn(TM)'s top-selling MercuryPlus emulation system.

The emulation upgrade offer is designed to introduce these potential customers to Quickturn's complete package of verification products and services. Through the QuickStart program, current emulation users can trade their products for credit toward the purchase of a MercuryPlus system. The upgrade offer includes the full range of benefits that comprise the QuickStart program, which provides a complete package of consulting assistance for first-time users of Quickturn systems. This emulation upgrade is offered through September 30.

``We're pleased to provide all emulation users with a flexible upgrade path to Quickturn's high performance products, with the added benefit of a known and secure technology path for the future,'' said Jeff Jordan, Quickturn's vice president of worldwide sales. ``This innovative offer makes it easy for all new Quickturn users to take advantage of the power of Quickturn emulation systems and our vertical markets solutions to quickly verify their designs.''

The Advantages of Quickturn's MercuryPlus

The MercuryPlus emulation system is designed to increase productivity by delivering the verification capabilities most important to today's design teams: fast design compilation, high debugging productivity, and high capacity. The centerpiece of the MercuryPlus system is a technology based on custom field programmable gate arrays (FPGAs) optimized for emulation. The result is higher performance and capacity compared with systems based on commercial FPGAs. This unique architecture allows Quickturn to deliver extremely fast and predictable compilation without the farm of workstations or PCs normally required by off-the-shelf FPGA-based emulators. With the custom FPGAs in MercuryPlus, million-gate designs can frequently be compiled in less than an hour. ``We want to emphasize to all our potential customers that they can easily gain access to the best verification technology on the market via this program,'' Jordan said.
